[ARCHIVED] Summit County Council awards $1.2 million from RAP Tax Grant to local organizations

2022 RAP Tax Grant Recipients

Summit County Council has approved the distribution of $1.2 million for the 2022 cycle of the RAP Tax Grant.

Notable recipients across Summit County include:

  • Echo Community & Historical Organization ($10,240)
  • Kamas Valley History Group ($9,162)
  • KPCW ($118,566) 
  • NS Unite ($32,336) 
  • Latino Arts Festival ($12,934)
  • Swaner EcoCenter ($94,853)

The RAP Cultural Advisory Committee received 23 applications requesting a total of over $1.9 million in funding. Applicants are ranked on the following three criteria:

  1. Artistic/Cultural Vibrancy 
  2. Public Benefit/Outreach 
  3. Organizational Capacity

The RAP (recreation, arts, & parks) Tax is used to enhance or support the funding of publicly owned or operated recreational and zoological facilities, and botanical, cultural, and zoological organizations owned and operated by institutions or private nonprofit organizations. It is a (tenth of a cent) sales tax on certain goods. Citizens of Summit County first voted to approve this tax in 2000 and renewed the tax in 2010 and 2020.
