The current Eastern Summit County General Plan was written and adopted in 2013. The existing document is very simple, and was always intended to serve as a placeholder until a more robust plan could be put in place.
Since the existing plan was created, regional trends have significantly changed. Population growth and infrastructure demand is outpacing other parts of the County. The updates to the Eastern Summit County General Plan are anticipated to be substantial in order to set the framework for a rapidly changing area.
The Eastern Summit County General Plan will be updated in terms of content, organization, and breadth. Notably, a Water Use Element will be created to satisfy new State requirement. Additionally, future land use maps will be created to help guide and direct new development to strategic locations.
The Snyderville Basin and Eastern Summit County General Plans will mimic each other in regard to formatting and structure as to more clearly identify how both sides of the County can work together to achieve the broader vision for Summit County.
